The Final Chapter

Friday 28th to Sunday 30th April
Food is coming in bigger and faster than ever. it hardly seems possible. It also does not seem possible that all the nestlings can stay in the nest, they are constanly shoving each other and trying to stretch.

Monday 1st May
5 young robins fledged in the morning, They've done it. Now the nest is empty but we are still keeping the camera running to see if something happens

2 left now
Two left but still hungry
Last one out
Last out
Getting reday to go
Getting ready to go
First one away
First one leaves

Well one lot of youngsters may have fledged and we can see them around the garden but Robby is back in the nest. The first sign that something was going on was when we saw the nest being relined.

Tuesday 9th May
And now we can see that there are eggs in the nest again. The robins are intending to raise a second brood.

Saturday 13th May
Robby is taking things seriously again. Today is the first day of proper sitting on the second brood

Second Brood

Following the discovery of the new eggs on the 9th of May Robby has been sitting on them more of less continuously apart from short trips out for half an hour or so. Every now and again she sits up and turns over the eggs. It must be about time for hatching - we will be keeping a good look out for this.

Sadly one morning Robby vanished. Robby was in the ness happily in the evening but was missing in the morning. There is no expanation and the eggs have failed to hatch. A sad end to an exciting project.
